Louisiana Disaster Relief Teams Hard at Work
Louisiana Disaster Relief Teams have been busy at work in DeKalb
County, Alabama. According to reports
from Larry Cupper, Disaster Relief Regional Coordinator of the Louisiana
Baptist Convention, approximately 50% of the number 1 and 2 jobs have been
completed in DeKalb County and work has expanded into Marshall County as well. In addition to all of the chainsaw jobs and
heavy equipment work, 200 chaplain contacts have been made in the counties.
At this point, no additional volunteers are needed to work
with the Louisiana teams. The teams are
on standby so insurance adjusters can get in and make their assessments. It appears that the teams currently on the ground
will be able to complete their task with no additional teams needed.
For those who desire to help there are a few things you can
do. First of all, pray for the relief
efforts and the people in Alabama.
Second, you can give through the LBC Disaster Relief Fund. Please make checks payable to the Louisiana
Baptist Convention, PO Box 311, Alexandria, LA 71309 with “Disaster Relief Fund”
in the memo line. All of the funds received
will be directed specifically to disaster relief. For those wanting to donate items, please
visit the website for the Alabama Baptist Convention State Board of Missions,
(www.alsbom.org). They have compiled a list of needed items, contacts and drop
off sites.
