Louisiana Responds to
Disaster in Haiti.

|
In Matthew 25:40 Jesus tells us, " to the extent that you did it to the least of them you did it unto me."
When Louisiana Baptist see people hungry, thirsty, and suffering from a disastrous event, we respond through the Disaster Relief Ministries of the Men's Ministry Department of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Disasters come in many shapes and sizes. Louisiana Disaster Relief has ministered to the victims of floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and even war. We have fed thousands of meals in locations ranging from South Carolina to California, and Mexico City to Iran.
Louisiana Baptist Men's Ministry has one mass feeding unit, a 32 ft. food service trailer capable of preparing over 25,000 meals a day. There are also 3 regional feeding units in Louisiana. One in St. Tammany Baptist Association, one in the Baptist Association of New Orleans, each capable of preparing 5,000 to 7,500 meals a day, and one in the Ruston area ministry of Rolling Hills Baptist Resort Ministry which is capable of preparing 25,000 meals per day.
Disaster Relief is more than just providing hot meals. Southern Baptists also help with clean up, childcare, first aid, and shelter. Our equipment and generators are often the only sources of communication and electricity in disaster areas. Our Mission Builders Fellowship has helped with reconstruction both here in the United States and in other countries like Jamaica.
The most important aspect of Disaster Relief is helping to rebuild lives. Disaster victims experience shock, sorrow, anger, grief, and many other emotions. Disaster Relief volunteers demonstrates the love of Christ. When people see that God's people really care for them, they come to understand that God cares for them also.
"….let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth." I John 3:18
The Men's Ministry Department of the Louisiana Baptist Convention has been involved in Disaster Relief ministries for 28 years. We invite you to join us as we "bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, male or female. You do not need any special skills, just a love for God and your fellow man, plus a willingness to serve as needed.
