The internet is quickly becoming the information source of choice for many people, especially, but not limited to younger generations. It is also a relatively inexpensive means of communication compared to print media. While we realize that not all people have access to the internet, recent statistics report that over 70% of the population nationwide uses the internet on a regular basis and as of 2003, approximately 49% of the population in the southern regions of the United States had internet access of some kind in their homes. It is for these reasons that Digital Media is included in the Communications Team of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Through our web site, we hope to deliver information that you need in a timely manner so that we become your first step in information regarding Louisiana Baptists. We also hope to further develop our web site to include other internet based technologies such as blogs, podcasts, and video. One reason we are doing this is because they are viable means of communication which will help us to get a greater depth of information to you. Another reason we are working to develop these technologies is that we want to be a service to you as a local church. As we work these technologies out, I will try and pass information on to you, along with some suggestions on how a local church can implement these technologies to better minister to your communities.
