WMU Scholarship Information:

Several scholarships are available through WMU for both undergraduate and graduate level work.  The scholarships are:

Louisiana College 

  • For men and women
  • In the amount of $1200 per year/ $600 per semester paid directly to LC
  • Applications are available from September 1 - December 16 at 4:30pm.
  • Completed, signed application must be in the WMU office by January 15

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/WMU Scholarship Committee and administered by the state WMU Director for a maximum of three years.

WMU Scholarship for Women Seminary Students 

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/WMU Scholarship Committee and administered by the state WMU Director for a maximum of three years 
  • For women who are enrolled in Master‘s program or School of Christian Training at one of the six Southern Baptist Seminaries
  • In the amount of $1600 per year/$800 per semester payable to the seminary

Nelda C. Seal Endowed Scholarship for Mission Pastors 

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/WMU Scholarship Committee and administered by the state WMU Director
  • For mission pastors to attend a Southern Baptist seminary or approved extension center pursuing a Master‘s Degree or Christian diploma
  • In the amount of $600 per year/$300 per semester payable to seminary

Louisiana College --

Application Deadlines: 

Applications are available from September 1 - December 15.
Completed, signed application must be in the WMU office by January 15.

Scholarships are: 

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/Scholarship Committee and administered by the State WMU Director
  • For men and women
  • In the amount of $1200 per year/ $600 per semester paid directly to LC

Applicant must be: 

  • A Louisiana native and/or graduate of a Louisiana high school
  • An active member in a Louisiana Southern Baptist church
  • Active in Southern Baptist WMU or RA missions organizations

While at LC, you must: 

  • Be active in a local Southern Baptist church
  • Be involved in a Southern Baptist missions education organization, i.e., mission education on campus; Women on Mission or Baptist Men in a local church; or lead GA, RA, Acteens, Children in Action, Youth on Mission or Mission Friends
  • A full-time student (enrolled in 12 classroom hours)
  • Maintain 2.5 Cumulative GPA

Application Process: 

  1. Request application from Louisiana WMU
  2. Applications are available from September 1 - December 15.
  3. The completed, signed application Must Be in the Louisiana WMU office by January 15 for the upcoming school year.
  4. Scholarships are processed and recommended by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the Louisiana WMU State Council.
  5. Applicants will be notified by the state WMU office following State WMU Council approval.
  6. A signed acceptance form must be received in the Louisiana WMU office by June 1.
  7. Scholarships are awarded on a one year basis and are NOT automatically renewed. Students MUST reapply each year.

Attention Acteens: 

Additional Scholarship funding may be available for Acteens who have:

  • Remained active in Acteens through senior year of high school;
  • And/or, served as Louisiana or National Acteens Panelist


WMU Scholarship for African-American Mission Pastors

Scholarships are: 

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/WMU Scholarship Committee and administered by the state WMU Director for a maximum of three years.
  • For African-American mission pastors
  • In the amount of $1200 per year/$600 per semester

Applicant must: 

  • Be devoted to the Lord, His church and work
  • Give evidence of call to ministry
  • Be a Louisiana resident
  • Pastor a Louisiana Baptist Convention mission church
  • Be endorsed by Director of Missions and sponsoring church pastor

While at Seminary, Must: 

  • Lead mission to participate in the Weeks of Prayer for State Missions, International Missions and North American Missions and contribute to Georgia Barnette State Missions Offering, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
  • Lead the mission to support the Cooperative Program and local association through giving a tithe of the mission‘s budget income and to be actively involved in the local association
  • Be enrolled in six hours minimum


WMU Scholarship for Women Seminary Students

Scholarships are: 

  • Granted annually by Louisiana WMU/WMU Scholarship Committee and administered by the state WMU Director for a maximum of three years 
  • For women who are enrolled in Master‘s program or School of Christian Training at one of the six Southern Baptist Seminaries
  • In the amount of $1600 per year/$800 per semester payable to the seminary 

Applicant must: 

  • Be devoted to the Lord,His church and work
  • Be a Louisiana resident and/or graduate of a Louisiana high school
  • Be an active member of a Southern Baptist church
  • Give evidence of her call to ministry

While at Seminary, Must: 

  • Be loyal to and participate in Woman‘s Missionary Union and be actively involved in mission education through WMU of the church or on campus.
  • Be a FULL-TIME student (9 classroom hours)
  • Be an active member in a Southern Baptist church
  • Include at least one missions course in degree program
