Moral and Social Concerns Prayer Alert!
This morning in the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare, a very important measure is to be heard. HB 517 protects medical and pharmaceutical providers from liability, discrimination and employment action when they refuse to participate in immoral and unethical practices such as abortion, embryonic stem cell research or distribution of abortive pharmaceuticals. This bill was also heard last week. Planned Parenthood representatives and the ACLU convinced certain lawmakers to clutter the bill with unsound and frivolous amendments. Today, we hope the author's amendments will be adopted and passed to the full Senate. This is an important measure for Louisiana to enact.
